1969 RESIDENCE

The owners of the 1969 Residence asked us to take a classic tract rambler on Mercer Island and remake it specially for a young and growing family. The forms are fine, they said, but the look and feel were to be clean and modern, yet, at the same time, also inviting in the traditional sense of home. We often call this “transitional” design in the industry, but it is also a free realm to employ materials and details in a unique way, specific to the lifestyles and tastes of the client. The team drew from the Northwest modern heritage, inspired by the owners preferences for functional clarity and gathering spaces filled with light, to renew a solid home for a new purpose.
